Because you are not employed by Hirebuddy, your reward counts as other income that you must declare and pay tax on yourself. The exact process depends on the tax rules in your country.
Our tip: Contact your local tax office or seek professional tax advice to make sure you declare your income correctly.
If you are subject to tax in Austria and have made a successful referral through Hirebuddy, you must declare and pay tax on the reward yourself. Because you are not employed by Hirebuddy, the reward is considered “income from services” and must be declared in your income tax return through FinanzOnline.
In brief:
• Log in to FinanzOnline.• Switch to business tax assessment via the “Change declaration type” menu item.• Enter your reward under “Other income” and “Income from services.”• Submit your tax return by June 30 of the following year.• You can switch back to employee tax assessment the next year.
